VINTAGE VISIONS MARINE ®
Where classic marine beauty, style and quality meets modern green technology.
Vintage Visions Marine would like to suggest that the future of cruising can be found in the past. By utilizing the design inspiration of the classic 1930s cruisers we are able to create a lovely and efficient single wake hull design. We are proud to introduce the Walker 38 diesel electric hybrid cruiser.
The Walker 38 is built in the United States by American craftsman of American hardwoods. The hull is strip planked and of composite construction. It is powered by electric motor pods fed by a battery bank coupled with whisper quiet auxiliary diesel generators. The domestic power is supplied by a battery bank charged by solar collectors mounted on the cabin roof and augmented, when necessary, by the generators. The superstructure
of the Walker is made of American cherry and the large windows provide panoramic views and openness to the warm deep cherry tones of the cabin interior.
The philosophy of the Walker builders is to produce an efficient, environmentally friendly, aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, cruising yacht made in the United States of predominately domestic components.
To address efficiency, the design of the Walker 38 has utilized the three components of transport and propulsion efficiency. These components are creating a longer more slender hull, incorporating an efficient propulsion package and the higher efficiency that is afforded at lower speeds. This design reinforces the philosophy that the voyage is as important as the destination.
The diesel electric power of the Walker promises to be fuel efficient by affording a significant portion of the cruising day under battery power. This will allow silent cruising as well as the security of having diesel backup and rapid recharging available. This combination decreased ones dependence on the local fuel dock and resulting carbon foot print. The power of two sets of pods and generators ensures the ‘get home’ ability of the system.
No one can deny the charm of the 1930s flat top cruisers. The elegance of gleaming wood and brass is recreated in the Walker 38. The cabin of the Walker is finished in American cherry. The deckhouse is comprised of the starboard helm station and port chart table. Aft of the steering station is an efficient galley and to port a convertible dinette. The forward dinette and galley areas are separated from the aft salon with facing settees by separate shower and head compartment and pocket door. The after deck is accessed by a door amidships between the convertible settees. Windows line the living areas and afford copious light and air. The double master state room is in the bow and has en suite head. With air conditioning and heating this cruiser will afford comfortable accommodations for up to six for extended cruising.
